Meet The Duchess

The Duchess of Malfi  LIKES:  Sheryl Sandberg's "Lean In". Architecture coffee table books. Vogue Italia. A well-cut silk dress. Watching 'Magic Mike' when no one else is around. DISLIKES:   Stupidity. Forced convention. Being alone.  ABOUT THE DUCHESS  The Duchess is the peace keeper in her own home between her two head-strong brothers. Widowed at a very young age, she's no wilting flower; she knows exactly what she wants and she's not afraid to get it. Being amidst constant power struggles is lonely - she'd love to find an intellectual equal that she can trust.  FAVOURITE DUCHESS QUOTE:  "For I know, where I am doom'd to live or die, I can do both like a prince." PLAYED BY:  Amanda Dales Book your tickets for the Duchess of Malfi at the  Theatre Royal Studio .  The Duchess of Malfi is on 6 March- 16 March at 7:45pm.  There's a Saturday matinee on 16 March at 2:00pm.

Meet Bosola

Bosola:  LIKES:  Stone fruits (especially cherries), a clean linen shirt, being paid on time, stand-up comedy. His favourite box set is  Breaking Bad .  DISLIKES:   Bosola does not suffer fools. He hates politicians, privilege and injustice. Do not leave him alone in a room with Jacob Rees-Mogg. ABOUT BOSOLA:  Bosola's talent is for dirty work. Powerful people have used him for this talent and it has shown him how the world really works. It's no surprise that he trusts no-one and looks after himself first, but it means he is very much on his own in the world. FAVOURITE BOSOLA QUOTE:  " I must look to my footing: in such slippery ice-pavements men had need to be frost-nailed, they may break their necks else." PLAYED BY:  Maurice Crichton Book your tickets for the Duchess of Malfi at the  Theatre Royal Studio . Meet Ferdinand

Ferdinand: Duke and Twin Brother to the Duchess of Malfi LIKES:  His sister. Horses. Hunting. Psychological torment DISLIKES:   Most People. Personal Questions. Disloyalty ABOUT FERDINAND:  Ferdinand is one of three siblings, and technically the youngest by a minute after his twin sister. Known for being high-strung , having a violent, almost psychotic temper, and an unusual attachment to his sister, Ferdinand is feared by most, if not all, of his court. FAVOURITE FERDINAND QUOTES:  "For thee, as we observe in tragedies that a good actor many times is curs'd for plaing a villian's part." "Whether we fall by ambition, blood, or lust, like diamonds, we are cut with our own dust." PLAYED BY:  Harry Revell Book your tickets for the Duchess of Malfi at the  Theatre Royal Studio . Meet Antonio

Antonio: Steward to the Duchess of Malfi  LIKES:  Horse riding.  Choux pastry.  The colour dark green.  Dancing the Galliard DISLIKES:  Dishonesty.  Long journeys by carriage.  Trials by combat.  Being indoors for too long ABOUT ANTONIO:  " I’m an honest man. Quick to trust and easy to befriend. I regard empathy and compassion as the highest traits a man can attain. Above all, loyalty to one’s friends and peers is paramount. I’m quick to assess a situation and I don’t miss much. " FAVOURITE ANTONIO QUOTE:  "All her particular worth grows to this sum,- She stains the time past, lights the time to come. " PLAYED BY:  David Phillipps Book your tickets for the Duchess of Malfi at the  Theatre Royal Studio . Meet the Cardinal

The Cardinal: Elder Brother to The Duchess of Malfi and Ferdinand LIKES:  To exercise power, preferably through intimidation.  The feeling of dominance arising from my intellectual superiority and my prowess at tennis, single combat etc.  To seduce noblemen's wives - because it is forbidden by my vows and belittles the cuckolds - any physical pleasure (given or received) is incidental.  Favourite book - "Il Principe" by Niccolo Machiavelli. - "It is better to be feared than loved."  A plan that comes together. HATES (THE CARDINAL DOES NOT USE WISHY-WASHY EMOTIONS LIKE 'DISLIKE':  Boredom.  Piety.  People – pretty all-encompassing, but I can’t think of an exception.  Any answer beginning with the word "No".  Any slight (true, false or imagined) against the family name ABOUT THE CARDINAL:  " I am the pre-eminent churchman of my time, although the underhand and illegal activities of my enemies robbed me of the office of...
